Hello and welcome to my blog, Anthropology Uncovered!

My name is Giulia Caligiuri, and I am a junior at the Pingry School. Outside of school, I enjoy swimming, playing water polo, rowing, spending time outdoors, and being with my friends and family. Most importantly, though, I love learning about science! My interests span biology, psychology, chemistry, anatomy, and much more. I am also fascinated by language and culture, especially because of my interest in different languages.

Anthropology brings all of these interests together. As the scientific and humanistic study of humanity, anthropology explores everything from human biology and our evolutionary origins to the cultures, languages, and societies that have shaped us throughout the past and present. The more I learned about the field, the more I realized just how many different questions anthropology can help us answer about what it means to be human.

Anthropology is traditionally divided into four main subfields: cultural anthropology, archaeology, biological anthropology, and linguistic anthropology. While many of my posts will focus on my particular interests in biological and linguistic anthropology, I hope to explore topics from all four subfields.

Through Anthropology Uncovered, I hope to share what I learn, explore fascinating questions about humanity, and make anthropology accessible and interesting to anyone who wants to learn more about the field.
